The New South Wales Government has two solar schemes running: the Empowering Homes solar battery loan offer and the solar for low income households trial.

Solar battery rebate NSW

While there are no battery rebates in NSW, they do offer interest-free loans for solar batteries to households in the Hunter region through the Empowering Homes offer.

Households without solar can get a loan of up to $14,000 toward a solar panel and battery system. Households with solar panels currently installed can get a loan of up to $9000 toward retrofitting a battery system to their existing solar system.

To be eligible for the offer you must live in an eligible postcode in the Hunter region and get your system from an approved retailer. View the full eligibility criteria here.

Solar panel rebate NSW

New South Wales is trialling a program to install 3 kW solar systems on low income households in selected regions.

To be eligible you must hold a Pensioner Concession Card or Department of Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card and be currently getting the Low Income Household Rebate. View the full eligibility criteria here.
