When it comes to solar batteries, many people assume bigger is better. However our solar experts analysed the energy usage of 1500 of our electricity customers and found that most solar households aren’t generating enough solar power to actually fill a big battery year round.
The goal is to get a battery that you can use all year round, even in winter when your solar system isn’t generating as much electricity.
Understanding the right size for you
To work out the right size for you, we need to look at your solar export in winter. If this isn’t available, we’ve estimated your winter export based on the data we do have.
If you export 2-5kWh per day in winter, we recommend the 4.8kWh battery package.
If you export 5-10kWh per day in winter, we recommend the 9.6kWh battery package (that’s 2 x 4.8kWh battery modules).
If you export 10kWh or more per day in winter, we recommend the 14.4kWh battery package (that’s 3 x 4.8kWh battery modules).
What should I do with this information?
If you’re ready to take the next step on your solar journey, a battery might be right for you.
Understanding your energy usage and storage needs is the first step to making an informed decision and avoid wasting money on a big battery that you might not be able to fully utilise.
