What comes in the DC Power Co Solar Battery Package?
It’s a long list when you include all the smaller parts but at a high level it includes:
- Sungrow Hybrid Inverter
- Sungrow / Samsung Li-Ion Battery

- Sungrow Meter
Is the DC Power Co Solar Battery Package right for me?
For most households the Sungrow battery (one, two or three batteries) will be a great solution. If you are a really big household (exporting more than 15 kWh of your solar energy per day in winter) then another solution might be the best for you.
What’s an EPS?
EPS stands for Emergency Power Supply and comes with the battery, we call it your blackout box. The EPS will provide back-up power supply for a couple of circuits in your home (up to 3000W) – this could be your general lighting, television, fridge, freezer, or whatever appliances you most need in the event of a blackout.
How long will the battery last in a blackout?
It depends how much energy you’re using in your home at the time and which appliances you have connected.
For example, if your battery is fully charged at the time of a blackout, you could run your lights, a fridge and a TV for around 10 hours, depending on how energy-hungry those appliances are.
On the other hand, it is possible (though less likely) that a blackout occurs after your battery has been emptied. To mitigate this, you have the option to set a ‘reserve capacity’ which would guarantee a certain level of charge to be available at all times (however this would limit the usable level of energy for daily cycles).
Do I need another inverter?
Yes, you’ll need another inverter because your normal solar inverter has one job – to convert the DC power generated by your solar panels to AC power that can be used in your home.
You’ll need a Hybrid Inverter with your battery* because batteries store electricity as DC power. It’s the hybrid inverter that takes the AC power (from the electricity grid or from the solar energy being used in your home) and sends it to the battery as DC power. Likewise when electricity from your battery is being used, it’s discharged as DC power and therefore needs to be converted back to AC power again for use in your home.
*In most cases, your new Hybrid Inverter could actually replace your standard inverter however due to regulations in the electricity industry, any alteration to your existing system means that the warranty obligations would automatically carry across to the person who did the alteration. Therefore, if you wanted to replace your existing inverter with the hybrid Inverter (to only have one inverter once installed) then the cost would be substantially higher, as the installer would then be responsible for someone else’s job. For this reason, we recommend simply adding the second inverter.
Do I need a new electricity meter?
You won’t need a new electricity meter for your home, however there will be a special meter added to your battery installation, and is included in the battery accessories you get in the DC Power Co Solar Battery Package. This meter will allow you to access useful monitoring data in the iSolarcloud app.
Do I need to already have a solar system?
It is possible to install a battery without solar panels however we highly recommend combining your battery with a solar system to get more value from producing your own free/cheap electricity.
Will the product work with my solar system?
Yes, the DC Power Co Solar Battery Package will work with any solar system. It will even work without solar power!
I think I need a bigger battery, can you help?
Absolutely. You can have up to three batteries installed, resulting in either a 4.8kWh, 9.6kWh, or 14.4kWh battery. If you go for one or two batteries to begin with, you can always add another later at a very low cost to install.
What size is right for you?

How much does an additional battery cost?
Our 4.8kWh battery package comes with one battery and you can add up to two additional batteries to your package. The battery package with 2x batteries is $9950 and the battery package with 3x batteries is $12,750.
How does the DC Power Co Solar Battery Package compare with other products?

We also recommend having a look at Sungrow hybrid inverter reviews, as the inverter is the brains behind the operations of the solar battery.
Will my battery be obsolete in a few years?
No. A solar battery should last up to 10-15 years. The reason you get a warranty is to ensure you’ll have support should anything go wrong early on in your battery’s life.
Is a Sungrow battery system right for me?
We believe the Sungrow product is a great fit for both novices and experienced “energy geeks”. With market leading warranties, local support, and a solid company, we’re confident it’s right for you.
What’s the payback I can expect from a Sungrow battery system?
Payback period and return-on-investment are good measures to use when assessing a solar system by itself, but when it comes to a battery it becomes a bit more tricky.
The short story is that the payback will vary between states, your current solar system, if you value back-up power and by how much, and what value you put on independence.
At DC Power Co we like to think about an investment in a battery more like that of a car or a mobile phone. It gives you access to greater flexibility and functionality, but isn’t necessarily purchased due to payback periods alone.
Should I wait until the technology improves or the price comes down?
We believe the DC Power Co Solar Battery Package is one of the most affordable batteries available today. Battery prices will continue to come down over time, however we recommend getting a battery as soon as it makes sense for you financially. After all, the longer you wait, the more savings you’ll miss out on.

I haven’t got solar, can I get the DC Power Co Solar Battery Package as part of a solar and battery package?
This unique battery offer has been designed for homes that already have a solar system installed.

Does the battery need any ongoing maintenance or service?
The battery is very low maintenance and unless you’ve been notified about a fault, there’s nothing to worry about. As for the inverter, we recommend a check-up by a professional / installer every two years or so.

There are government rebates available in Victoria and SA for batteries, as well as a loan scheme in NSW. They are very restricted and at this stage the DC Power Co Solar Battery Package is not covered under these schemes, however given our low price we hope it’s right for you regardless.
