What is DC Digest?

The DC Digest is a weekly insights email service. It is designed to help you save money by giving you better visibility of your energy usage and, if you have solar, your solar performance. 

We look at your weekly energy data and turn it into clear, concise information and insights that are easily digestible. So in one glance at the DC Digest, you can understand your energy data and have the knowledge you need to be able to save more.

 

How do you get my data?

By entering a promo code and subsequently joining an energy plan you agree Tango Energy and DC Power Co will share your personal and energy data in line with the Tango Energy privacy policy and DC Power Co privacy policy to provide these services. DC Power Co receives a referral fee from Tango Energy for any customer who switches their energy.

If you have a smart meter, your energy data is sent to us remotely every day. This means we can see your energy usage and solar exports down to half hour intervals and turn this data into easy-to-understand information.

 

Do I get DC Digest?

All DC Power Co-Tango Energy customers with a smart meter receive the DC Digest. If you don’t have a smart meter yet, we encourage you to get one so that you can take full advantage of our suite of DC Services. Give Tango Energy a call on 1800 865 205 to discuss your options. 

 

What if I don’t want to get the DC Digest?

No worries, you can manage your email preferences in the email itself. Alternatively, reply to the email and let us know.

 

What is the Energy Alert?

The Energy Alert is an email service that lets you know if your energy usage looks higher than normal. You’ll know the day after you’ve used an unusual amount of energy, so you can either fix something if it’s broken or know what to expect come bill time. 

To identify this, we look for jumps in the amount of electricity you’re using compared to your average. If this occurs and it can’t be explained by normal day-to-day changes (for example, on hot days when you probably pumped the air conditioner up), we’ll send you an Energy Alert. 

 

What should I do if I get one?

Don’t worry, we’ll give you all the information you need in your Energy Alert email. 

 

Who gets the Energy Alert?

All DC Power Co-Tango Energy customers with a smart meter can receive the Energy Alert. If you don’t have a smart meter yet, we encourage you to get one so that you can take full advantage of our suite of DC Services. Give Tango Energy a call on 1800 865 205 to discuss your options. 

 

What’s the Solar Alert?

The Solar Alert is an email service that lets the customer know that there might be a problem with their solar system, so they’re not buying energy when they don’t need to be. We look at how much a customer normally exports, as well as how sunny it was at their house, to calculate if their actual export meets our expectations. If something looks off, we will let the customer know the day after it happened with the Solar Alert email. If everything is as expected, the customer won’t hear from us.

 

How do you know if my exports are low?

We use your energy data combined with how sunny it was to determine if your solar export is lower than we’d expect. 

We can do this because, if you have a smart meter, we receive your energy data every day down to half hour intervals. Combined with a knowledge of how much sun is around at your house, we know whether your solar system isn’t exporting as much as it should be.

Who gets the Solar Alert?

Our solar customers with a smart meter can receive the Solar Alert, however you won’t get it if you have a battery. This is because your solar might be feeding into your battery, so we don’t want to alert you inadvertently.

 

I don’t have a smart meter, can I still get the DC Services?

You can’t get the DC Services without a smart meter. If you want to get one, give Tango Energy a call on 1800 865 205 to discuss your options.
