If your solar system ever stops exporting electricity to the grid, we’ll let you know as soon as possible with a Solar Alert.
This service is available to all DC Power Co customers with smart meters and is designed to make sure you’re not missing out on your solar savings. If you don’t know if you have a smart meter, find out here.
How do you know my solar isn’t working?
Our Solar Alert service is only available to customers with a smart meter because this allows us to see your solar export throughout the day.
By looking at your meter information, we can see if your solar system ever stops exporting electricity to the grid.
Why you need the Solar Alert
The Clean Energy Regulator found almost 20% of rooftop solar systems inspected last year were not functioning properly, and many Australians are missing out on lower bills.
A Victorian household with a 4kW solar system that wasn’t working would lose $96 per month, or $1155 per year*. By telling you when your solar stops working properly, you can get your system back up and running (and saving!) sooner.
*This value is based on the average electricity production of a 4kW solar system (as specified by the Clean Energy Council Design Guidelines) multiplied by the cost per kWh for electricity in Victoria based on DC Power Co’s rates.
